Farnham; Small Place,Big Appetite

Farnham might seem like quite a small place, but that doesn’t mean it has a lack of things to see and do. When it comes to places to dine out, you’re spoilt for choice. Places are starting to open up following on from the restrictions at the start of the year, which means we can start to enjoy dining out once again. We’d recommend checking with the restaurant in case you need to pre-book but otherwise, now is the perfect time to consider treating yourself to a meal out, and here are our pick of the best ones locally.

One of the newer restaurants in the area, it’s right at the bottom of the town centre so easy to find. Named after local author J M Barrie, it offers a wonderful choice of Mediterranean inspired food and a range of wine to dine for. Whether you’re looking for brunch, dinner or a Sunday roast you’ll find that this beautifully decorated restaurant offers it all.

The Lost Boy
Bailey Mow Pizza

Seasonal menus, locally sourced ingredients, and a selection of real ales are just some of the things this country pub offers. During lockdown, they were serving pizzas for people to enjoy on Tilford Green, a beautiful area of greenery just outside the pub – we hope this is something that continues!

Now you can enjoy your food and drink in the riverside garden or the cosy outdoor heated snug.

If you’re happy to drive slightly out of Farnham then The Mill at Elstead is worth a visit. With plenty of seating inside and outside, you’ll find that social distancing is easy here too. The outside is right on the waterside so you’ll have wildlife for company. The menu here varies but if you’re after good quality, pub grub at reasonable prices then The Mill is definitely somewhere that will suit you.

The Mill
The Botanist

This chain restaurant is right in the centre of town, so easily accessible. The menu is varied and they do set lunch menus if you’re looking for somewhere to eat on a budget – the hanging chicken kebabs are delicious. They offer a range of tasty cocktails and even a handful of mocktails if you’re the designated driver.

A firm favourite of our local estate agent Steph, who loves to visit here for dinner and a few relaxing drinks at the weekend. The beautiful pub offers up a range of locally sourced food with plenty of different places to sit and eat. Enjoy food next to a log burner, in the heated barn, or on the large patio. There’s also a garden and playground so it’s also the perfect place to take the family.

One of the nicest things about Farnham is how many different places there are to eat. Whatever cuisine you fancy you should be able to find something that suits, you’re even just down the round from some fast-food chain restaurants if that is what you fancy! We’ve been having a conversation about your favourite Farnham places to eat over on Instagram, feel free to join in!
