Where in Whitstable Do You Really Need To Visit?

You can Google ‘things to do in Whitstable’ and come up with a thousand and one articles about the touristy things to do in the area. These are great- Whitstable is vibrant and thriving, so there really is no shortage of things to do. However, if you follow the tips these articles give you – you’ll be doing the same as everyone else.

Instead, we wanted to give you some real local gems worth visiting. The quieter, unsung heroes that aren’t necessarily plastered all over search engines but are amazing local places that you need to know about if you’re visiting, or moving to the area.

Blueprint Coffee

Describing themselves as ‘artisan coffee’ supplies, they really have nailed it. They have been around since 2010 and we’ve enjoyed more than a cup or two from their coffee van outside Whitstable Train Station every morning. Their ethically sourced coffees are a God-send before a long commute on the train. Don’t worry if you aren’t planning on jumping on a train anytime soon, they also have a coffee shop on Oxford Street. It’s a quiet and unassuming café located next to a local MOT testing centre, but don’t let that put you off. Take our word for it, the coffee here is incredible and well worth a try.

Tea and Times

Another place to get a beautiful tasting hot beverage is Tea and Times on the High Street. They offer a wide range of tea, coffee, and sandwiches so the perfect spot to treat yourself to some lunch. We’re impressed by their vegan and vegetarian options and to be honest, their full English breakfast is well worth a try too!

Samphire, the Bistro that has been operating since 2006 is a must-visit too! They’re an independent restaurant offering supper, lunch, brunch, and even Sunday dinner. In fact, their menu will have you spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing what you want to eat when you’re here. They are proud to use local, Kent based suppliers for a majority of their offerings and this really shows in the quality of food you get here.

Alpha Men Barbering

Of course, if you’re going to be spending so much time eating and drinking out, you’ll want to look the part. Alpha Men Barbering on Herne Bay Road comes highly recommended by our local estate agent Michael. He loves to go here for a trim so if you’re looking to get booked in for a chop anytime soon; we recommend you get yourself to Alpha Men Barbering.

There is so much to love about Whitstable, so many local businesses to support and so many options for socialising that you really entertained the whole time you’re here. These are just a few of our favourite local spots, but if you have any others we’ve missed pop over to our Facebook page and let us know!
